Persephone’s Ritual Perfume Oil

Persephone: Goddess of Spring, as well as Queen of the Underworld.  She is a symbol of transition, growth, resiliency, & power.  Daughter of Zeus & Demeter, she was abducted by Hades to the Underworld where he wished to make her his wife.  When Demeter’s sorrow over the loss of her beloved daughter caused all vegetation to wither and die, Zeus made Hades let Persephone go, but not before Hades gave her pomegrante seeds to eat.  Pomegranate seeds are the food of the Underworld, & eating them made sure Persephone would always have to return to Hades.  So, Persephone crossed back through the gates of the Underworld with her torch.  She peacefully passes Cerberus, the vicious 3 headed guardian dog of the Underworld, & emerges to return to her mother for 6 months out of the year.  When Persephone returns to Earth, so does Spring.  She lives with Demeter for half the year, & when she returns to Hades, vegetation dies again, bringing about Fall & Winter.  Persephone shows us the strength & resiliency of women, graceful transition, & carries the knowledge of the Underworld with her.

 I have envisioned this perfume oil as a dichotomy.  Ripe Pomegranate is at the forefront, symbolizing her life in the Underworld, along with fresh wildflowers to represent Spring, & on the dry down, spicy pink pepper, clove, & soft amber.  *in addition to essential oils, this formulation includes a premium grade fragrance oil that is paraben & phthalate free.  It is skin safe.

*inside the 10ml roller, you will find red garnets to symbolize Persephone’s time in the underworld, along with Green Aventurine to symbolize Spring, growth, & manifestation during her time on Earth.  You will also find a blend of Wildflowers, & dried Mint. (Persephone once turned a former concubine of Hades to a Mint plant, showcasing her strength & power  as Queen of the Underworld. 😉)
